Proceed With Caution...
...Irreplaceable Historic Woodwork Ahead!
Don't let the unique beauty of original historic woodwork be unintentionally destroyed during a well meant restoration or renovation project. The participation of a professionally trained preservation carpenter is the most reliable and cost effective way to protect the unmistakable look and feel of period architectural millwork. Even the best of conventional renovation carpenters are trained to replace, not to preserve.
Put Us on Your Team Early in the Design Process.
Highland Restoration, Inc. is a restoration contractor specializing exclusively in historic preservation carpentry, wood window restoration and faithful period millwork reproduction for Rhode Island and adjacent areas of Massachusetts and Connecticut. We work with building owners, architects and general contractors who understand that the success of the project can depend on the right set of skills. Put us on your team early in the design phase to avoid unanticipated change orders and other project disruptions. And yes, we can furnish historic building condition documentation and reports in order to help clarify the issues for all parties.
From Museums to the Historic House Next Door.
Keith Farless, president of Highland Restoration, Inc., is a graduate of the Preservation Carpentry program at the North Bennet Street School in Boston. He has worked on such notable museum quality restorations as Thomas Jefferson's summer home, Poplar Forest, executed under strict National Park Service guidelines. We excel at museum projects, but not every historic building can claim an association with a founding father and US president. We adapt these guidelines to fit the goals and budgets of less well known but equally irreplaceable structures, serving both the notable and the everyday historic architecture of southeast New England.
Comprehensive, Accountable Historic Woodwork Management.
We bring to the work a mix of traditional craftsmanship, state of the art wood conservation and a passion for our distinctive vernacular buildings, both high style and low. In order to be fully accountable for the satisfactory performance of our work, we maintain a full service fabrication facility. In it, we can furnish faithful, accurate reproduction of any necessary historic architectural millwork including wood window sash, doors, period mouldings and staircases. When hand carvings or oversized turnings are required for a project, we turn to our extensive network of dedicated artisan specialists. Put our team on your team early in the project to save time and trouble. Call Keith Farless at 401-742-1540 or contact us through this website.
